Post by kennyhowes »

Might explain why VoxTalks appears to be down right now; even Canada is down...

This left-coaster sends condolences and hopes that everything is OK to those of you in the northeast (and while I'm at it, hopes for relief to everyone affected by the European heatwave). Enjoy playing your 330's, 360's, 4005's and other hollowbody Ric's unplugged ...
My basses are Rickenbackers. My synthesizers and recording gear are analog.

Erik-- Even with all of those rolling power outages out there recently??!! Get down on your knees and give thanks to Ken Lay, Jeffrey Skillington, Andy Fastow and all the other conscientious @$$holes at Enron! ~LOL~

Glad I'm in North Carolina, thankyouverymuch.....

Read the papers lately? We're having a brainage outage here in California. And Ah Nold might be in charge soon!

Jerry-- I've been following those political events out there pretty closely. I'm not convinced at this point that Ahh-nold will be voted to go "clean house in Sacramento". In spite of the most recent poll numbers, I still wouldn't bet against Gray Davis surprising the world and finishing out his term. IMHO, Davis is getting far too much of the blame for the electricity shortage fiasco and the state budget deficit (which has since been cut from the much ballyhooed $38 billion down to $8 billion.) The voters of California should have the aforementioned b@st@rds at Enron locked up for life at the meanest maximum security prison in the country.

I realize political musings are (rightfully) discouraged in this forum, and I really do try to abide by that guideline. But since Jerry brought it up, I felt compelled to spend my humble 2 cents. Thank you for your indulgence, and I will shut up now..............

Jeffery.....no offense to you but since you don't live in California and especially in the Los Angeles area, you cant get the feeling of how much Gray Davis is hated here. you say yourself the polls are coloring him gone.
If you don't think he should get the blame, who should take it, Elvis??
Davis is the Governor and he is directly responsible for this mess and he is leaving office....soon, along with all the special interest groups that are really running this state.
Oh....I dont care WHO the NEXT Governor is....well, not Gary Coleman, that's fer DAMN sure!!
Jeffery, there is a lot more that you are apparently unaware of....or you would not have said what you said.

David-- You are correct. Not being a resident there, it's impossible for me to know the full story about Gray Davis and the whole political mess going on. I'm pretty much a CNN junkie and have been getting my information from the primetime shows like "The Lou Dobbs Report", "The Headlines with Anderson Cooper", "Newsnight with Aaron Brown", etc. Having said that, I stand by my assertion that Enron (and any other electrical power broker company involved) manipulated the market that brought about the power shortage grief out there. There's also the California state legislature that has just as much say as the governor in running things. Do they not share at least a fair amount of the blame for the current fiscal mess?

Listen, I'm really not a big Gray Davis fan, and I don't have anything personal against Schwarzenegger. Davis may or may not be the best choice for the office. But I'm skeptical that someone like Schwarzenegger can just breeze into Sacramento, flex his still considerable bi-ceps, and scare off the deservedly hated special interest groups he rails against. But if he *can* do it, then so much the better for California. Hells bells, I like the state, even though I've never been out there. My mother has relatives who live in the San Gabriel/Alhambra area and she got to visit out there about 6 or 7 years ago. Said it was the most beautiful place she'd ever been to, the most beautiful weather she'd ever experienced, and the best food she'd ever had in her life. But everything was *very* expensive. I just hope that the voters in California choose the best person for the job. State senator Tom McClintock perhaps? Maybe someone else that the national media haven't even bothered to mention yet? When it's all said and done, I don't live there so ultimately I'm not directly affected.

Jeff, generally I agree, however, I would rather move to SC and forget about this place.

David-- SC??!! You mean "Sh#t Creek"? Isn't that an inner city borough of south central Los Angeles?

By the way, allow me to explain my addiction to CNN: EYECANDY! Paula Zahn; Soledad O'Brien; Daryn Kagan; Heidi Collins; Christine Romans. {ssssss-lurrrp}

Vox Talks should be back up soon.

At the moment, there isn't any power here in Sarnia, which means no server for the board. I could tell you how I got on line, but I'd have to kill you, lol.

My flight was bounced from Detroit to Chicago for tomorrow, so it looks like I'm not going to be in the air until Saturday now.

I didn't mean to appear to support Ah Nold. It is just the opinion of the press so far that he's got it. I have never voted in my life and I'm not going to start now. It only encourages them.

P.S. Isn't there a separation of Music and State clause in the constitution?
