*Scrrrshh* and the sound was gone.

Post by blazer »

The strangest thing happened to me today. I was playing my Strat through my brand new Marshall halfstack when I suddenly heard the sound of some electrical thing crackling and then nothing, no sound anymore. So I checked the cable, I checked the cable from the head to the cab, nothing wrong, I can still hear the fan to cool the tubes with running but no sound.

This is strange, what happened to my amp?

Sounds to me like it stopped working.

Time for an amp tech.

crackling usually means a resistor fried. Was it "cranked"? You should see and hear a big wirewound go, it's like the 4th! THey are usually in big RF amps like we use in ham radio. speaking of which, I promised to start a thread.
