Archie Bell and the Drells
Archie Bell and the Drells
I found a video of these guys doing tighten Up. The video is awful and you can't hear the bass. Someone put the music to a slide show. The sound is MUCH better!

Wish I could play guitar better, I got the bass line, It's pretty simple. But I can't make the chords ring out on the guitar with those tiny little strings!

Got to meet Archie Bell, and get his autograph. ("Son, that's only the second autograph I've ever given out") a few years back when we were invited to hang out with Dick Clark(yes, THAT Dick Clark). Meeting Dick and getting a picture taken with him was cool but talking with Archie for a while was great fun.

That was a great song, still love it to this day. Ever hear "Loosen Up" by The Nazz, Todd Rungren's first band? It's hilarious, a take off on Tighten Up. Loosen up on that bass now! loosens string, bloom bloom, OK, let that guitar fall in now! crash! It's all out of time. They were a great band though, did the original Hello It's me, completely different than the jazzy version he did solo later on.
