Let me introduce myself

Post by elkmix »

Hey I just joined this site because just the other day I bought my first rickenbacker. I got a 1976 4001 model for $200. It's got dual truss rods in it and it's in pretty good condition. It has a crack by the headstock, I've noticed that is pretty common, but it's already been repaired for awhile. I heard that most of the 4001s don't have dual truss rods, does that make mine a rarity of some sort?

Welcome, Mike! IIRC, all RIC basses have had dual truss rods; if you read this page from the 1957 catalog at the RIC site:

http://www.rickenbacker.com/catalog_poster_piece.asp?poster_piece=cf57-6.jpg

the 4000 (precursor to the 4001) is described as having two truss rods.

Welcome Mike. I thought from the title of the thread that I was going to meet "the one and only Billy Shears."

Welcome Mike, you got yourself a great deal there! There are plenty of folks who'd pay $200 for a truss rod cover.

Pics please!
