Tortoise Pickguard on a 4003??

Post by ustabawannab »

I'm picking up my AFG 4003 Saturday. Here is my MIA JB with a new tortoise pickguard. I'm wondering what it would look like to put one on my AFG 4003?

I always thought a tort on a mapleglow would be nice.
Buy it before someone else does.

I found a pic of Dave Meros' white 4001 with a tort pickguard but it's pretty small.

I dunno. Tort guards look great on Fender three color burst. I really like mine. Looks like a '62 reissue. I guess I could try a Pickguardian tort guard. If it looks crummy, I could try and ebay it.

Thanks for the opinion Morrow and Cheyenne, you may be right. I know I'm supposed to not care what other people think, but I really do. Maybe I'll put the guard on, take some pics and post a poll to get feedback.

The one on Dave Meros' actuallly is not tortoise, it's just red with black sploches.

I agree that it would look good on white and MAYBE black, but not Fireglo.

Tort pickguards look nice on black and sunburst P and J basses style basses, not on Ricks in my opinion.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

I just thought of something.

I'm pretty OK at photochop. Maybe I'll give that a try.

I never did like tortoise, or mother of toilet seat either!

It wouldn't look like a Rickenbacker to me with a different pickguard color.
