Rickenbacker 4000 from 1992?

Post by anoukane »

There is a Rickenbacker 4000 for sale in Belgium. The ad says the bass is from 1992. Is this possible?? If it is an original Ric, than it's a steal, 850 euro.

I agree with Jeff, it looks more in-line with an '82 or somewhere around that period....

While I have not established an end date, the 4000 petered out in the mid 1980s. The skunk stripe (shedua) was a feature from 1972ish to the end of the 4001 production in the early 1980s. This one is a set-neck 4000, sharing the same "chassis" as the set-neck 4001S of the period. I think '92 is out of the question, more likely late '70s, early '80s.

I agree Paul, there's no way this can be 92, early 70's is more realistic. neck through and skunk stripe was around from early 72.

Nice example in great condition, colour looks nice as well.
