What would your own Signature-Edition look like?

Post by rick_lover »

Just imagine:
RIC is calling you to ask if they're allowed to do a Signature-Edition with YOUR name on it.

What would it be like?

Mine would be that:
a 620 with a shortscale ( -> maybe 680??)
a third pickup, maybe toasters
and in Turqouise.

It's a 680FR TUR (FR is for Florian Reitz)

I would like to see a 380 version of the 650 C.

In other words, a 360 body style, hardtail, buckers, wide maple neck + fretboard, piezo.

The only thing I would change? --> FINISHES.

If Rick could make the Laguna in MG, JG, and FG, I think a LOT of the criticisms people level at the brand would be silenced. It would have something of the mojo of the 360, but all the modern engineering of the 650, including the improved bridge/tailpiece and wider neck.

And the best part - IT WOULD BE EASY TO DO.

Now, in fantasy land, I'd also like a semi-hollow bass in the same body style as a 330. Keep dreaming, I guess.

Of course, I'd like a Peter Buck model. I know it's just stock, but I'd buy one just the same. I wouldn't even ask for permission.

I have two. First, a left-handed 350 Mapleglo, with no pickups other than the saddle-mounted pickups and the active circuitry as offered on the 380.

Second would be exactly the same as the Carl Wilson, but offered in Mapleglo. Left-handed of course.

A 325 with 2:00 f-hole in blueburst. Or it could even be a 355.... I just love that sharply pointed "sweeping crescent" body shape. With checkerboard binding, triangular pearl inlays and low-ohm toaster pickups (for that sweet vintage jangly sound), and the all-black vintage style control knobs.

Here it is. I should have put a third pickup on the guitar in the painting....

Bass: It would be my '67 4005 (sweet, sweet neck, toasters, easy to get that Mac tone) in Apple Corps Green.

Guitar: Anything in turquoise!

Here goes: I'd take Peter William's drop dead gorgeous turquoise 360v64 12 string from the "woo hoo" thread as a starting point but would make the following design changes: Transparent turquoise stain over flame maple, 12 saddle bridge, and a 1 3/4 inch neck. On the bass side, start with a 4004 Cii, use the same finish as the LH series guitar just mentioned, use 4003 pickups and controls, and stick with a single jack. Box 'em up and ship 'em out!

Bass: a 4003S with pickups based on the innards of the reissue horseshoes: four alnico poles, but without the shoes. No big bridge pickup cavity, just a regular mounting hole like the neck pickup. A bridge with improved adjustability but in a similar style and lightweight alloy. And a built-in alarm that sounds if anyone tries to install a .0047uf cap!

Guitar: a 610 with a trapeze tailpiece.

Color: Azureglo on both.

This is an easy one. It would be a 760J in Mapleglo with a floating neck pick-up (piezo if possible). Not that my actual musical skill is deserving of such a fabulous instrument, mind you. They'd probably have to call it the 760WB (WB for "Wannabe").

How does one have a floating piezo pickup at the neck?

Hey-it's a fantasy guitar...if in his fantasy it floats, it floats.

A piezo only works under a saddle, right? It can't float.
