The drummer, I learned is Jan Errico, who also played with the Mojo Men. I remember the latter group more than the Vejtables. The Mojo Men's hit was "Sit Down, I Think I Love You." I didn't know it was written by Stephen Stills, until I read the blurb at the bottom of the page.
At first, I thought it was another British Invasion group, the hair, the band get-up, even the style of the song. What a surprise to learn they were American, from San Francisco, yet!

Am I the only one who actually liked the tune? This is a band I've read about but never heard until now. Jan Errico also went by the name of Jan Ashton, and I believe she was chosen over Grace Slick for the Mojo Men. (...looking for a longhaired brunette with heavy mascara...)
By the way, turns out Soylent Green is People.
