Anyone using a Victoria Victoriette amp and if so, what's your opinion?

I've owned six of Mark Bair's amps and one of his Reverberatos...all top quality stuff..but....there are a lot of guys out there building just as good a product (IMO) and selling them on ebay for much less money

Well, I was at Dave's Guitar in La Crosse, WI earlier this week and listened to a couple of Rics played through the Victoriette and a couple of other amps. I didn't have any of my Rics with me and they didn't have any lefty Rics on the wall. Therefore, I asked the salesman to play a couple of right-handed ones so I could hear what the amps sounded like with a Ric. I know that this is not the ideal way to buy an amp, but considering the situation, it was better than listening to on-line clips.

Anyways, I liked what I heard and the price was right. Therefore I ordered the Victoriette and it should be delivered tomorrow.

Nice one, Richard. Whilst I haven't actually heard these amps I've heard great reports about them.

I've been Jonesing for another amp for little while now.

In the last few weeks I've tucked away a '72 Fender Twin Reverb, a '74 Fender Champ and today I scored a sweet little Fender Blues Deluxe. Some or all of these will be traded up at some stage for a '60s blackface Fender Deluxe Reverb.

I'll may wind up selling my 73 Deluxe Reverb and/or Traynor YCV20WR to help recover some of the expense, but no decision has been made just yet.

A Victoriette with 6L6s? Not a Victorilux?

Or are they 6V6s?

I spent about an hour last night with the amp and my Strat. I started off with some classic country (i.e. Hank Sr). Very clean and all of my mistakes were projected. It has a much clearer tone than either the SFDR or Traynor YVC20WR. Also, it's a little on the loud side, even though I didn't have the volume knob past 3 or 4.

After a while I cranked the reverb up to about 8 or 9 and it was off to "Surf City".

This evening's workout will be with my #1 six string, a 1997.

BTW Andrew, the amp is available with either EL84s or 6L6s. Think of this one as a low wattage Twin Reverb with tremolo.

Didn't all Twin Reverbs have tremolo?

I'm not doubting which tubes you have in there, Richard... certainly, you can look inside your own amp better than I. ;-)

It's just that looking at the Victoria site, I got the impression (wrongly, it seems) that the Victoriette was their "20 watt" model, with either 2xEL84 or 2x6V6... and their Victorilux was their "35 watt" model, with either 4xEL84 or 2x6L6.

The main thing is: You like what you hear coming out of those speakers.
