Ricks From Australia to U.S.

Post by junglejem »

Anyone purchased a Rick from Australia and had it shipped to the U.S.? Are there customs, tariffs, taxes, etc.? Any hidden charges for the buyer, or does the seller in Australia pay it all?

I've sent 2 basses from Australia to the US. A year or two ago there was a FTA agreed between both countries. Even so, as Ricks are made is the USA there would be no duties or taxes on a US product returning to the US. Depending on what deal the Australian seller agrees to with the shipping company there may be customs fees charged by a broker in the US. AFAIK the most recent deal I did had no charges for the receiver at all. The bass arrived and all he had to do was sign for it. YMMV.
