Paul Stanley hospitalised.

Post by blazer »

From their official website:

http://www.kissonline.com

"Last night an extraordinary page was written in KISSTORY. At the Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, California, last stop of the band’s 2007 ‘Hit & Run’ mini Tour, KISS performed as a TRIO for the first time ever. Immediately following the band’s sound check, Paul Stanley suddenly fell ill, with what was later determined to be a “cardiac event”.

Once it was determined by emergency medical staff that Paul could not perform, there was talk that the show would need to be canceled. It was Paul himself, who insisted that the band play the show without him. Paul was concerned that fans had traveled long distances and because of the band's individual schedules the show could not be rescheduled.

KISS Manager Doc McGhee then took the stage to announce to the crowd that Paul was sick and unable to perform but that Gene wanted to speak with the fans. Gene asked the audience if they wanted him, Tommy & Eric to perform. The crowd responded with a defeaning chant of yes, yes, yes. With that, Gene announced that the concert (If they could pull it off), was a tribute to “The Greatest Voice in Rock and Roll - Rock God Paul Stanley”.

With Paul en route to the hospital - Gene,Tommy and Eric played their hearts out in honor of their stricken leader! The set list evolved as the night progressed and KISS blasted their way into the hot night air - valiantly trying to hold it together minus the band’s heart & soul. In an emotionally charged moment, Gene told the crowd that he was an only child, but nevertheless had a brother – Paul Stanley! ‘Christine Sixteen' brought 11 invited fans onto the stage to help perform the song, and added a bit of lighthearted fun to the pensive night.

The trio went on to perform a full set including classics and rarities - ‘Watchin’ You’, ‘Goin’ Blind’, ‘Nothing to Lose’, ‘Black Diamond’, ‘Cold Gin’, ‘She’, and ‘Parasite’. The sold out arena was filled with dedicated fans who appreciated what a unique night this really was, despite its bittersweet nature, and rocked hard & loud. As the final chords of ‘Rock & Roll All Night’ were struck, and the last jets of flames and confetti shot into the night sky, everyone realized what they had just witnessed was simply great music performed by dedicated, extraordinary musicians who really gave it their all, and then some.

Another thing every KISS fan at the show last night realized - is just how lucky we are that our favorite band, led by the greatest front man in Rock N Roll PAUL STANLEY, cares so much for us fans!

Get well soon Paul - we all love you!"

Kinda strange seeing them play without the Starchild.

You can say about Kiss what you want but unlike other bands who cancel a show at the very last minute when one of them is unable to perform, Kiss doesn't dissappoint it's fans by sending them home.

Rock on and Paul, please recover, your wife and sons need you around.

I read the news earlier today and to say the least it bummed me out a bit. While not a huge KISS fan myself I very much appreciate their place in history.

I had the good fortune to book KISS into the Gardens in Vancouver the very early 70's. They are one of the hardest working bands in rock and roll and they are very nice people too.

Get well soon Paul

The apparent tachycardia happened while the band was rehearsing for a performance at a casino in San Jacinto, California, about 90 miles east of Los Angeles.

"My heart spontaneously jumped to 190 plus beats per minute, where it stayed for over an hour necessitating paramedics to start an IV and give me a shot to momentarily stop my heart and get it into a normal pattern," Stanley, 55, wrote on his site (http://www.paulstanley.com)

I'm as close to a zero KISS fan as you can get, but lets all send out a quiet prayer for Paul Stanley's fast recovery.

I LOVED Kiss growing up, the reason I started playing guitar was because I thought Ace Frehley was SO cool...they've kind of become a big of a fraud recently, but they will always have a place in my heart.
Hoping everything returns to normal for Paul as soon as possible!!

Well, I wouldn't call a band who didn't let their fans down and cancelling the whole show because of one of their members health failing a "Fraud"

Stanley himself insisted that they play the show, he knows that those people payed big bucks to see his band and often travel long distances. He also knows that without the fans, the band would be nowhere. So it's wise of the band not to pull an Axl Rose on their fans and cancel the whole thing.

So what do you think is the Fraud in Kiss?

I use to get my *** kick by all the local rednecks in my home town back in the 70's because I was a Kiss fan. I didnt care for southern rock at that time, but I have learned to like it. Me and 3 other teenagers were the only Kiss freaks in my southern hometown. We had to defend ourselves every weekend while we hung out at the local burger joint. I wouldnt trade those days for anything. I hope the Starchild gets back to good health and rocks the world again. peace Mitchell

Wouter, that is not what I meant. I think having other people wear Ace and Peter's makeup and go out as the "original band" is fraudulent, not to mention they haven't put out any new music in 8 or so years.
I applaud Gene, Tommy and Eric for going on without him.

I saw Paul Stanley's solo show here in Melbourne recently. I've been a diehard Kiss fan since "Alive" in '75.

Fast forward 30 years and I took my son to the recording of Kiss Symphony a couple of years back.

Paul at age 55 still put on a tremendous show. He was much better than I expected, actually. What I would give to have a voice like his!

I hope he recovers quickly.

I was watching the Gene Simmons reality show last night and I was surprised to hear Kiss released something like 48 albums so far!

I've only heard a portion of one song (Rock and Roll All Night).

But I hope Mr. Stanley gets well soon.

Jerry, that is something of an inflated number, considering the dozens of greatest hits and repackages they have done. I would guess maybe..the makeup era was 10 albums, then another 10 albums without the makeup. The rest have been live albums or greatest hit packages.

Ahem...I'll tell you what's fraudulent about Kiss these days: that mountain of Marshalls with no speakers in the bins and nothing in the amps but the little red lights, while they're actually playing through hidden Mesa Boogies.

So they didn't cancel the show because the fans had travelled so far to attend...what a load. Imagine the accounting nightmare involved with having to refund all that money, not to mention the very real possibility of rioting, injury and property destruction.

As it played out, everyone in the Kiss Empire got paid their regular paychecks and no cars got set ablaze in the parking lot. That Gene Simmons is a real genius and a trooper besides!

(Never mind the fact that he could probably tour by himself with a drum machine and a few dozen 'blood' capsules and still sell out arenas...)

Anyway, best wishes for a 'speedy' recovery, Paul...but my real sympathy lies with the homeless vets sleeping in cardboard boxes downtown. The blood they cough up is real...
I didn't get where I am today by being on time...

$immons is a genius. Any band that tries to do any sort of marketing needs to take some lessons from him.

Tachycardia is not necessarily even life-threatening. Maybe after all that "lifestyle", going back onto caffeine was more than his poor ticker could handle, and it protested...
