One more than one occasion we have imparted incomplete or erroneous information, purely by accident, of course. I find it surprising, however, that we are often able to make sense out of nonsense. Here is an good example.

In a Mensa Bulletin long ago, there was an article about Howard Chase (if I remember the name correctly - this was about 20 yrs ago!) and one of his books, Anguish Languish. Included in the article was the exerpted story, "Guilty Looks Enter Tree Beers", which started out like this (again, from 20-yr memory):

Wants pawn term, dare worsted ladle gull hoe hat search putty yowler coils debt pimple colder Guilty Looks. Guilty Looks lift wither murder inner ladle cordage saturated adder shirt dissidence firmer bag florist, any ladle gull orphan aster murder to letter gore entity florist oil buyer shelf.

"Guilty Looks!", crater murder angularly, "Hominy terms area garner asthma suture stoop id quiz chin? Goiter debt florist? Sordidly nut!"

"Wire nut?", wined Guilty Looks, hoe dint peony tension tore murder's scaldings.

"Cause dares lodge and wicket aminals inn debt florist debt orphan molasses pimple! Debt florist's mush toe dentures furry ladle gull."

I think that's the extent of memory right now. Reading the words aloud helps in the comprehension (it's tough the first time through).

My favorite line came later in the story: "Dingey nudist tree cheers."

I had to read that once in high school.

Robert, do you mean the book, or the original short story (on which the movie was based), "Flowers For Algernon"? I read the latter (it was in a paperback sci-fi anthology) before the movie was made, and I felt that the short story was a lot better than the movie.

Having read the short story, I see what you mean; uv cors, then we wud haf too en this lyk thu storie duz...
