For Ampeg lovers

Post by jps »

I was just at my local GC this evening and saw they have a used SVT-4 PRO and SVT810 cabinet. These look brand new to me and are USA made.

SVT-4 PRO $899.00

SVT810 $699.00

These seem like quite reasonable prices given their brand new condition.

If you are interested search the GC website for the Mayfield Heights, Ohio store. 440/461-0300

They are probably American made also, I would think.

My new SVT3-PRO (US Made) cost me over $2,000 Australian and my new SVT410HLF (US Made) cost me $1,900 Australian.. We get screwed with prices over here...

The shipping is the real killer down here Josh! It's around US$400 now to bring a guitar in, so imagine what the dealers have to add onto your amp to get it here!
And with the Aussie dollar like a yo-yo at present....who knows where pricing will settle!

Yeah, I know... it's totally crazy with shipping costs now... Sucks....
Some of the RICs I can pick up from over in the US (with shipping), still work out a bit cheaper than what some people sell over here.

Josh, i've brought 3 Ricks over from the states, and you are quite correct in that it still works out a hell of a lot cheaper than buying them here!
Especially when you have mates like Darren and Howard, who are bringing my 4th Rick home with them when they get back from SoCal 2007!

a local guitar shop has a SVT-4 PRO display model. I think they are asking 599 for it. I am in the market for a new amp head, but this seems like over kill for me. I see this model does 490 x 2 at 4 ohm, or 1200 bridge mono. I am assuming that means 2 channels out each with it's own amp? Would I be safe in running my 500 cab in just one of these channels, or does the head need something plugged in each channel to get the 490 watts? The svt-3 pro is more my size for what I need. I also want to check out these markbass everyone is talking about. So the question is- can I run one 500 watt cab with this?

Yes, you can. But since you are considering MB, just get the LM II and be done with all, you will not regret it! Image

I am not sure what the retail is but the selling price including the two year exchange warranty is $599.00 + tax.

Don't tell anybody but this is a real bargain!

Jeff, you get your MB at Guitar Center? Price seems right. I play upright also so the XLR input is nice.

In the US GC is the only source for MB at the moment. The price is amazing for what you get! Image

Have you had your fill of acronyms yet?
