I don't often think about this, but it's about time to put new tubes in the 73 SVT. Are you guys thinking these are pretty good? Or, what are you using these days? I've got electro-harmonix in there now.
I found a place that sells them in sextets for $195, is that a good deal, or what?
Any information is appreciated.

With the SVT, NOS GE 6550A's are king. Barring those due to cost, then there are many types of new ones that sound great and perform well in the SVT.
Winged C KT88 - generally considered one of the best KT88 types on the market. Will work great in SVT.
Winged C 6550C - Sound very good in SVT and hold up very long. I have some of these in my SVT and going on 8 years of moderate use with no issues.
EH KT88 - Similar to Winged C for power and longevity. Some like these better for the sound.
Tung-Sol 6550 reissue - Haven't tried these myself in SVT, but tubes are very nice like all of Tung-Sol reissue stuff. Probably will be fine.
Genelex KT88 reissue - Have heard VERY good things about these. Have not tried them yet. Lots of glowing reviews though. I would probably try these if mine needed retubing.
JJ KT88 - Excellent tube with great sound, power, and longevity. I use these in my Sunn stuff and would also try them in SVT with no hesitation if I needed tubes in it.
Regarding pricing, I'm a dealer for almost all of the brands on the market today, and that is a good price and about what I would sell them for too. For an SVT I would suggest to get the power tubes matched. It should make the price go up maybe $10 but its worth it. The Genelex KT88's are quite a bit more spendy with a matched sextet for around $295 btw.
