360/12 OS Mapleglo...any sightings?

Post by junglejem »

Dale is set to do some work on my 330/12, converting it to a 360/12 OS. The plan is to go Amber Fireglo, but I'm curious about what the guitar would look like remaining Mapleglo, but with the body binding, fingerboard binding and pyramid position markers of the 360 OS. Dale likes this idea, but with a touch of amber to give it a vintage vibe. I'm intrigued with this concept, but I waffle back & forth.

I've never seen a photo of a Mapleglo 360/12 OS. Someone said there was a Carl Wilson-owned 360 OS MG at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Has anyone seen it? Or have any photos of any MG 360 OS?

There's a 6-stringer mislabeled as a 335 at CME. Sweet guitar, but not a 12-er.

I just gotta say...I love this forum. What a fantastic resource with folks ready, willing and able to help. Thanks, Chris...it took roughly an hour and half for me to go from "never having seen one" to your response with exactly what I was after.

There is a Japanese book on Rickenbacker 12-strings that has a '68 360/12 OS in Mapleglo pictured in it...near mint condition. Last known owner was in California.

No probs, Jere - I think a 360/12 OS in mapleglo would be about as good as it gets. I hope your 330/12 conversion works out for you, I think you'll have a fantastic instrument in the end. I saw and played Dale's 330/12-to-360/12 OS (in fireglo) at MARF II in April - very, very nice!

Is your Conversion a 21 or 24 fret guitar?

Here is a 365 OS in MG-same thing but with an Accent-you get the idea:

Here is my MG 360 WB(24 frets)with Accent(365?)

I'm a blonde tolex amp lover. Completely impractical, I know.

The amp on the left is the one I brought to the So.Cal confluence. Oops, I forgot, I didnt' bring it until Sunday-you were in Victorville by then Dale. The amp on the right is the 40th Anniv. Blackface RI.

I love amber mapleglo. I would do that. Everybody and their brother has fireglo guitars.

I agree with Jdog, go Mapleglo with gold guards and a gold TRC. Mmm...

Sounds cool! I didn't even think of gold guards or TRC.

Full disclosure re my previous post. I don't own the 360 OS in the first picture, in case anyone was wondering. I just thought the guitar was cool so I copied the photo.

JB, are you having yours converted to look like a RM model?

I wonder if I should have asked for Sea Green or Blue Boy instead of JG?! Image
