His first gig
His first gig
Forgot to post this because I couldn't size the photo small enough. Here's Ma'boy at his first gig. He did a nice job. played a little solo. It was cool, and the reason I was late for the SoCal Confluence.

Hey that's cool. He reminds me of myself when I played my first gigs, his bass is almost as big as he himself is and I used to be that way too.

Here I am in 1991 playing my second gig with my then new 1989 Squier Strat. That guitar was as big as I was back then. Note also that I'm crouching over forwards, my fifteen year old spine had trouble coping with the guitar's weight.
You have every right to be proud about your son. After all didn't we all start out as kids being dwarfed by our instruments?

Thanks guys.
The funny thing is I bought him a 24in scale bass to play so he wouldn't hurt his fingers. Right before I took him to his little show, he asked if he could use that bass. He said the tone on the smaller bass wasn't full enough for him.
Dave, He gets to use my Ric the day he gets the keys to the Bimmer..which means never lol....but he did ask if I had a friend with a 4080 he could spare...
Now that I think of it, Ric made student guitars, did they ever make a student bass?

Thanks for the support guys. Besides the fact he's my son and I love him to death, I truly believe his ear is much superior to mine. He also is dedicated to music that he loves.
That evening, there was a bunch of punk rock teenagers on the side chanting "bass, bass, bass!". He thought they were mocking him, I thought they were cheering him. He also has a small following of his older sisters friends who ask him to pick up a bass or guitar when they come over.
Ahh...to be young and good looking. At least I was once young
