I'm gonna be strong, Roy. My order of preference is 4,1,2,3.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

well my theory out the window then, the great thing here is that Sheena being of a generation or 2 after most of us gives a totally unbiased view, when I say unbiased I mean that she is probably hearing these perhaps for the first time, rather then most of us who perhaps have a conceived notion as to the best version.

While we have discussed this on numerous occasions, the version to which one is introduced often times trumps all subsequent releases. There are exceptions to this and they would make a very interesting new thread on Clough's Classics.

In that case, could it be that if we were all introduced four versions of the same song for the first time, many of us would chose version #1, regardless of how good the others were? Personally, i doubt it. Could be an interesting test, though.

Confess I didn't know the tune, and not any of the artists either, before now (after decisionmaking) having done some research.

Voting:
1. v. 2 Can't believe she reaches that final note!
2. v. 4 The charm does it for him.
3. v. 1 Too dramatic, over-arranged.
4. v. 3 Not the singer's fault, but THAT instru-
mentation which I can't stand.

100% Einar!
Searchers amongst my teenage favourite music. Still fond of them, but earnestly a little puzzled they are considered THIS big! But I'm very excited about this forum, and will love to read it regularly, and also contribute!

Well thanks Einar, an unbiased view. Don't agree of course but that's what makes this interesting IMO.

4. no comment
1. no comment
2. hate the chord changes from the original and think the singer is trying a little too hard in spots, good voice though.
3. (a distant 4th, hate the music)

The original artist grew up in a neighboring state and I saw the person about 6 or 7 years ago and they sounded great.

Everything may change in next few days before the vote is "closed", of course...
