You guys notice on the chorus, it goes like this:
A D A F#m Bm
All I really.... wanna do ooh ooh.
Try a D6 INSTEAD of the Bm with this voicing:
2nd fret G string, 2nd fret high E string, B string OPEN.
Crosby sings an "A" above middle "C" on the last "ooh", suggesting a Bm7, but I've found that with the other vocals, and Chris' descending Bass line, that a D6 sounds SUPERB.
The reason for this is that with the voicing I've indicated, you have both an "A" AND a "B" note vying for supremacey, just like Roger, Gene, & David's vocals, and it lends so much to that "Cool '60's thing".
Over the last quarter century, I've been playing with and tweaking Byrds arrangements, to actually try and make the songs sound "More Byrdsy" than The Byrds.
I say that with all the humility I can muster, obviously.
I've been carrying my own little "Trade secrets" like this around for years, and since my own career is over, I've been thinking for some time now about sharing them with friends, and people who give a damn.
If you guys like this arrangement, let me know, and I'll cue you in to some REALLY COOL stuff you can do on "Turn!", and "The Bells Of Rhymney", to make them "More Byrds".
Especially the part; "Why so worried, sisters why? Sang the silver bells of wye". I'll give you some chords there that will really "Jerk it".
Obviously, alot of the very fine musicians here (I'm not one of them) will dissagree with my findings, and I'm fully prepared to respect everyone's viewpoint and arrangements of the songs.

PS- Bear in mind that the aforementioned D6 chord works very well for the ALBUM version of "AIRWD"; and to be honest, I have not yet really sat down and analyzed the single (45) version close enough, so I'm ignorant to comment.
It does sound like that on the last "ooh", it is perhaps a full vocal triad (3 part harmony) on the resolve, and not just the usual "Double tracked Simon & Garfunkle Byrds".
In other words, Roger & Gene doubling unison, and two Crosbys.
