Led Zep

Post by bob_atherton »

I know it's not a bass related topic, but I guess a few of us are hoping to get tickets for the November gig.

I have pre registered, but I'm not holding my breath about getting to the gig...

Really? As Led Zeppelin? Did they make peace with John Paul Jones?

Surf's up...

I heard that you have to be chosen in a drawing in order to be able to get tickets, which are 125 pounds each. Those are some heavy tickets!!

Oh my, it's a sign! Right when I opened this thread, "Hey, Hey, What can I Do" just came on the radio! Image

To me "Zep" and "Bass related topic" go hand in hand. (Though, not Rick related) JPJ takes a very close second place to Sir Paul for my favorite bass players.

Also heard they are remastering The Song Remains the Same to include the complete show.

The story:

Well, if they do decide to tour, they will make an extraordinary amount of money. I think Page and Plant still sound very good, so it would be now or never. I saw Zeppelin in 1977...it would be fun to revisit 30 years later.

Sadly, its been reported on Yahoo that 20 million (yes you read correctly) have already applied for the tickets (doubtless 90% are touts and scammers and not real fans) - as an old Zep fan I too have gone in for it but have more chance of winning the UK National Lottery!

I understand this is a one-off concert. No tour.

From what I've heard, Page, JPJ and Bonham (Jason) would like to do a full blown tour. It's Plant that does not want to...at least so far.

They had announced on local radio that, on average, 80,000 people per minute were registering for tickets, and that the website had crashed several times!
Only 20,000 tickets available, though.

Looks like they had to have made peace with JPJ. I wonder if that $25M deal with General Motors to use "Rock 'N' Roll" softened up things. Most likely the biggest amount of registrars are scalpers. The announcement of a tour seems like a media ploy, however, sound like like Joey has some inside infoImage Do say....

Plant made some laughing comment about how many doctors they would need on the tour.

Plant is supposedly in excellent shape. He is very active, plays tennis, etc. But I'm thinking that even if he sings well, he's not going to sound like the guy we heard from the late '60's through the '70's.
My info comes from Eddie Trunk. Image

Page/Plant left me cold, and even with the wonderful JPJ back, I'd be hesitant.

The tour will come, way too much $$$ involved, but I'll sit this one out for sure.

Yea, and why would they announce a tour at this point?

They do the show, and say how great it was to be back together...

I would savor the chance to bring my son to one of their concerts.
