Important Notice of RickResource Forum Changes

Post by admin »

In an attempt to improve security measures, introduce more user-friendly features and storage capability and to add completely searchable archives from 2000 to 2007, the RickResource Forum will be moving to a new format on Friday October 5, 2007. From now until the move, a number of topic areas be reduced so that the final move will be easier.

In preparation for this move, the RickResource Forum will be locked down in maintenance mode beginning Thursday October 4, 2007 around 6:00 pm Eastern time. A notice will be posted that the forum is read only at that time. Visitors will be able to access the Forum for reading but will be unable to post until the transfer is complete sometime on Friday October 5th.

Your patience is sought at this time. While much preliminary work has been completed behind scenes most of us have learned to expect the unexpected when it comes to transferring forums of this size. Gil Disatnik is at the helm as we move into some uncharted waters on October 5th and in this I gain much comfort. I am indebted to him.

The forum will have a different look (three actually) and it will take a while to get used to the new features. Please cut me some slack while I am learning the new system as well.

At the end of this journey you should be able to see no difference between the Archives and the Current posting sections of the forum and the search function will be returned for all topic areas. There should be close to a third of a million posts so please be patient as we sort this out in its final stages.

For those who do not have an updated email address before the move to the new format you will be waiting for a time until changes in your membership can take place. I urge you to sort this out before the move.

I hope that these changes will be acceptable to most who have supported the RickResource Forum over the years. They are necessary at this time for numerous reasons which we will discuss in the course of time. I hope you understand.

Peter

The new format will have subliminal messages urging everyone to buy more Rickenbackers! Its all part of John Hall's insidious plan to TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!!!! Image

Thanks a bunch Peter and Gil for your hard work.

A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

I look forward to the new look(s). Not posting will cause uncontrollable twitching (or I may discover I have a life!), but it is for a short time only and a shiny outcome to look forward to.

I wish a smooth transition to both Peter and Gil!

Peter, even in my stately advanced years I love a challenge... bring it on! Confuse me, it keeps the gray matter active.

I'm sure everything will be fine.
