light show bass

Post by jwr2 »

I am one step closer to making a light show bass ...

Tonight I was helping my 12 year old carve and put led lights into mini pumkins ...

soon I may be converting my silver 2030 4-2-5 bass into a lightshow bass ...

I have a light show bass project in the works too. It'll involve a really nice 3001 neck that I have, a 2030 body, some HB1's and a sheet of lightshow plastic that I got from Paul W. I don't quite know what I'll do for te electronics, but there are a number of "color organ" kits out there that might work.

I remember seeing fret-lights on Jamiroquai's bass when I was in HS

Anyone look into the little fuzzy toy I pointed out back when Paul acquired the plastic? It was like $20 or something. I'd have to search to find the old thread...

John, while your "penguin" probably has the correct basic circuitry, something with three channels and the ability to drive 20-30 LED's will be necessary. I've found a custom circuit on online that will do the trick so I've e-mailed the designer to see if he'd re-configure it for my use. The basic components are pretty cheap and can run off of a 9 volt for several hours.

Jeff, You just moved to Colorado and you already found a wife just like the early settlers did when they moved west.

Actually I was dating her for several years ... the plan was to move her to Michigan ... but fotunately I lost the Michigan job and found work out here in Denver ... better job, better city, better scenery, better sports teams, and I get to do Architecture instead of IT work ... man the buttheads that ran the company where I used to work really wasted my talent by making me a network administrator and not involving me with the cad system ...
