Of Montreal

This is a really cool band and a great song. The singer doesn't quite hit the high note in the chorus (really high note), but you can really hear that 4003 and the great vocal harmonies.

If you own any of their albums, you know how absurdly talented is their bassist. And yes, pure, raw 4003 tone. That, and their concerts are like dance parties. Highly recommended if you ever get the opportunity to see them.

I have Hissing Fauna Are You the Destroyer? and Satanic Panic in the Attic, and both albums are great. Nothing like what you'd expect from the titles, by the way. Kind of Stereolab-ish. Kinda.

Of Montreal has a write up in today's Houston Chronicle. I didn't realize that one of their tunes, Wraith Pinned to the Mist, was used in an Outback Steakhouse commercial.

Do they have two bassists? I just saw them on Letterman and it looked like there were two with 4001 or 4003s. (JG and FG)

I liked the tone whomever was getting with the bass(es)--almost sounded as clean as a synth. I don't think I've heard a bassist channel a tone like that, ever. But I can definitely believe it's coming from a Ric.

Yep, on their last couple albums they've had a bunch of songs with intertwined bass harmonies, so they usually use two basses live.
