Spotlight On - Series

Post by winston »

I am pleased to announce that I will be starting a new series of posts called "Spotlight On - (insert artist name)".

This series will focus on professional, semi professional and amatuer artists who have caught the attention of the writer, either recently or in the past. In this series I plan to interview band members, individual artists, managers, agents, etc as may be appropriate. Their will be a strong focus on the business side of their music.

First up to bat will be one of our very own. George Boccanfuso has kindly agreed to an interview and we will be discussing his fabulous surf band "North of Malibu. North of Malibu of course have a new CD out and they are getting rave reviews.

I will be interviewing George in the new year and I will post my questions and his answers shortly thereafter. I am really looking forward to discussing North of Malibu with George.

I have also contacted a number of other potential participants in the hope that they will consent to an interview and so far I can say that I have achieved 100% participation.

If you would like your band or yourself to to be interviewed for this topic area, please send me a brief bio and point me to where I might be able to listen to your music.

I hope that you will find this series to be an interesting read and where the artist agrees in advance we will provide an opportunity for you to ask your own questions and receive "live" responses.

A great subject area, Brian. I look forward to the reverberations of RickResouce Forum member, George Boccanfuso, in the near future.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Hi everyone,

The first in this series has been posted so check it out and if you feel so inclined, give North of Malibu your support. They are a great band with the added bonus that a couple of the musicians are prominent forum members.

Coming up next week will be a musician who has credentials and roots that are extraordinary. I think that you will get a major kick out of the forthcoming interview. Plus you'll really get to know this fellow up close and personal as you learn about those that he has brushed shoulders with. It's amazing to me that this very humble man has been exposed to and spent some quality time with some very well known artists involved in the music industry and yet he rarely provides us with a clue as to the extent of his ability to play guitar. Watch for this upcoming interview. I rarely make predictions but I can almost guarantee that you will read it with interest - from start to finish.

I would also like to express my gratitude for all the support shown so far to this new section of the forum.

Brian

Check out the Mike Dutton Interview in this series if you get a chance. Besides being an interesting read there's some Rickenbacker guitar content for you as well.

Next up will be:

"The Janglemen" Again two very well known forum members are a part of that band and I will be interviewing John Biscuti on behalf of the band this week.

I also have an interview lined up with our own Tony Carey on his new band "The Great British Blues Band" and right on his heels will be Darren Trott talking to us about "Airway Lanes", an incredible Australian band that he is managing.

I hope that those of you who stop by are enjoying these interviews.

Thanks Richard, I really appreciate your support. I encourage everyone who reads these interviews and who is enjoying them to show your support to the artists that are being featured. The reality is that musicians and artists thrive on the knowledge that their work is appreciated by someone who has no vested interest in their product. It won't pay the bills but a simple comment probably means a lot to them.

Next up is Tony Carey. Look for an in depth and revealing look at the "The Great British Blues Band". Tony should have lots of good stuff to share with us. I am looking forward to conducting this interview as I plan to ask him some questions about his experiences in the studio (I understand he has done some work at Abbey Road Studios).

I have one more interview lined up in this series:

Up next, will be our very own Darren Trott, who will be discussing Australia's hottest band "Airway Lanes". Airway Lanes and Darren kindly let me preview some of their music from their new CD. I firmly believe that they will the next superstars to emerge from Oz. They are fantastic.

Darren of course is their manager and my interview will be focused on not only the music of the band, but what they are doing and how they are going about attracting so much postive attention.

Keep an eye out for this interview next week. It promises to be interesting reading.
