Selling my Jazz bass

Post by gray »

I am selling my new Fender MIA Jazz bass. It was purchased new probably two months ago, and has been set up with Fender pure nickel strings. Wade's in Milwaukee did the setup. Plays great. Color is black w/ black pickguard and rosewood fretboard. Graphite-reinforced neck, String-through body, S-1 switch (which kind of sticks a little sometimes when the button is coming back up) and a whole bunch of case candy, although to be honest I lost the little allen wrench that came with it. Asking $850 US.

Okee dokee, looks like I'm going to have to find another way to get rid of it.

Oh, suuuuuuure, I see!
I'm adjusting to it a lot better than I thought I would. Things went uphill at first, then waaaaay downhill. Then I came back to it had a change of heart and decided what the heck, nobody's biting. Maybe it's a sign. It's good to have something different in the stable. Besides, it makes me appreciate my 4001 more.

A Jazz Bass is a great sounding and playing bass, everyone should have one in their stable.

That it is. I still want/need another Rick, but I guess it can wait.

Hey, I love Ian Dury! Nice Jazz, BTW. Beautiful figure in the wood.

Also, for anyone who reads this, I've never owned a string-thru-body Jazz before, and currently have it strung thru the body. However, I think this is causing a great deal of the string tension that's the only thing that really drives me nuts about this bass right now. Will it lower the string tension if I just string it through the bridge instead? A friend of mine just got a brand new MIM Jazz, and it plays way better than my MIA, which is driving me crazy.
Any help in this situation would be great, as this is my second Fender and my first MIA.

Sorry to sound so ignorant, but I really have no experience with string-thru-body.

I think the whole concept of the string through body design is to provide better sustain, and to me it would make sense
that this would also increase the tension on the strings.

Try posting this question over at the Fender forum.
I'm sure you will get plenty of opinions there.
