None more white!

Post by bassduke49 »

I received Sean Kelly's refinished V63 yesterday, and after a day of letting it acclimate, I took these shots. This was refinished by Dale Fortune and features a non-yellowing white (so I'm told) with contrasting dark wings and fretboard. I don't think he replaced the fretboard, but it is quite dark compared with the usual ones. The wood looks like bubinga with perhaps a dark stain or wash applied before clear coat. It's a stunning bass in perfect condition. If you like white that isn't yellowed, you'll like this. It also has the push/pull tone switch added. Perhaps Sean or Dale can chime in with more on the story?

Glad she's there safely Paul.

The board and wings were stained a dark rosewood I believe. The neck is shaved down to 60's style specs. My white 64 RM1999 bass provided a rough template to compliment Sean's vision for this this project.

Again, a great looking bass, that should sound and play fabulous, and I too am glad it stayed in the Forum.

Best wishes to both Sean and Paul.

Thanks for the report on the wings being stained, Wints. I too hope all is going okay for Sean. We haven't heard from him in a while...
