Rickenbackers

Post by wittyair »

I love this site. I come here often.....great guitars, great people. I bought my first guitar at 11 years old, 43 years ago. I've played in many a garage band and even managed to get payed to play which is quite a privilege. Through the years I've played a lot of great instruments and have learned a lot about them. Rickenbackers are my hands down favorite for many reasons.....they play great and they look great chief among them.

My main business is the aircraft parts business.....I buy/sell parts for large commercial airliners. Been doing it for over 20 years. It has it's ups and downs (sorry).

Lately, I've been dabbling in the guitar business. Not to become a main income source but more to facilitate the acquisition of cool (to me ) guitars......mostly Rickenbackers. I come across something I like, I try to get it. I'd like to keep everything I've ever bought but that's not practical so occasionally I might have to "flip" something. I sometimes get a vibe that that practice is frowned upon......that's OK......I understand that.....to each his own! I have a site on gbase. Never sold anything on there, it's more to establish a presence than anything. I list everything I have on there. Again, more of a presence thing than a sales thing.

I love the hunt. I love the process. It's exciting when UPS shows up with a new guitar!! I love hanging the new guitar in the display case. I love putting new strings on. I love playing guitar. I'm not out to hurt anyone.....I'm not out to horde or gouge or take advantage.

So.....that's the story!
As Gooyfoot says....play long, play hard, play often (or something like that!)

See Scotty, knows how it is.
Whether 1 or 100 Ricks in your collection - we are all collectors of Ricks whether in our music rooms, saved pics and links on Computer, or the sight, sense and smell of a Rick in our minds. We're all in it together.
Those who play and collect Ricks feel like they are a part of something bigger because of thriving communities of Rick enthusiasts like here at the RickResource.
Some of us just realize those dreams in bigger numbers than others.
Long live Rickenbackers!

Beautiful collection there Craig. I liked that 381 you sold recently as well--the fireglo looked very rich in the photos, reminded me of my first Ric, a 350 (which I regretfully let go...).

Ricks kind of snuck up on me. I bought my 350 sight/unseen because I wanted to try a "Beatle-ish" guitar. I joined this site around the same time, and I think that's where things really went downhill!! I sold the 350 to finance my 325c58JG, and I honestly thought that would be my one and only Ric. Somehow now I've got six of them .... I place the blame squarely on the RRF!!!

None of them are case queens either--I enjoy the uniqueness of each, even though they're all similar models. This is a great informative site and a very friendly place to hang out...
