4005WB

Post by 4005WB »

I have a 1967 4005WB Bass in Fireglo.
You see very few of them on the web.
I have owned it for over thirty years, and play it very little.
Is it a rare bass?

Thanks,
Dan

Welcome Dan!

These are not rare instruments, but they are very desirable instruments.

We'd all love to see some photos!

Here's mine, Dan - A Fireglo like yours, but a year older (and most likely MUCH worse for wear):

And here's my ex, a '74 in Burgundyglo:

Welcome Dan,

The WB double bound babies are far rarer than the single bound versions, and you don't see too many. All in all, yes pretty rare.

Whoa, another one! Welcome Rob!

Mine (now residing comfortably in Dear Old Blighty) was NJ 6511 - October '74. Yours is the third '74 4005WB BG i've seen, including mine. Just gorgeous.

Thanks everybody, and sorry about the giant picture.

My 4005 was made in Dec.74 but doesn't have the red side markers known for that year.
Were the red side markers put on 4005's ?

Francesco, My father came to the U.S. from Hungary in 1957, I guess i'm first generation American.

Welcome Dan. Hey, you wouldn't happen to be related to anyone by the name of John, Ben, or F.C. would you?!

'67 4005WB? I'd call it rare. Rare is defined differently by different people. What is rare? Less than 200? Less than 100? Less than 50? Less than 10?

I've seen plenty of jokers on Ebay listing brand new 4003MG's and calling them rare. To some people any Rickenbacker bass is rare.

But in my opinion, yours really is rare.
