Recommend me an amp to go with my Ric Bass
i just got my Ric 4003 JG today and i love it. now i need a solid amp to go with it.
i am going to guitar center this evening and i'd like some directions from the "Ric
Masters" on what i should get. i've got a couple things i am gonna be trading in on
an amp but overall i'd say i'll spend around $650 or $700. what would you recommend?

Get a used made in USA Ampeg from whomever's got one. I got all of my Ampegs off of Ebay.

I love my 'Made in USA' Ampeg B200R combo amp. Make sure to get the USA made one though as some were made overseas and they've had issues.
Good luck!
Good luck!

If you do happen to find something new that you like at GC, go home and bring them a printout of the same thing from Musicians Friend(part of the same company) and tell them you want THAT price INCLUDING tax. At any given time there's plenty of great Ampegs on Ebay for way less than your budget. Are you looking for a combo or separate amp and cab? How many watts?
Re: Recommend me an amp to go with my Ric Bass
I am looking for a combo or a seperate cab and head. I just want something that is loud enough
to play small, medium or fairly large gigs. I have a GK 400RB right now thats pretty cool. I have
just heard really good things about Ampegs. Dunno what I should really get.

I'm with Jeremy on this. Cept I have far less money and no amp at all atm.
Getting off ebay is a good way to go? The shipping doesn't kill you?

Jeremy,
I used a GK 400RB for a bunch of years. Now I have an Ampeg B2RE with Ampeg 1X15 and a 2X10 cabs and really like it better. I like how flexible the modular system is, too. You can start with the 1X15 and add the 2X10 when funds permit.

Jeremy, there's lots of great deals on Ampegs heads on Ebay right now. In fact, I'll be listing a 400 watt Ampeg Portabass 2x12 cab on the bay real soon. It has brand new speakers replaced under warranty from Ampeg in it. Check the specs out on line and PM me if you're interested.
Re: Recommend me an amp to go with my Ric Bass
It may cost a bit more but make sure you check out the Markbass amps, a match made in (choose your prefered place here).

400 watts through 1 12" speaker and less than 40lbs(mine), or 250 watts thru 2 6" speakers weighing in at 25lbs.Only available at your local GC. Keep in mind that they are a bit more only because you must buy with warranty.

Re: Recommend me an amp to go with my Ric Bass
If you can find one cheap enough, an old silverface Ampeg SVT - best bass amp around imho, but very heavy - 55kgs in a roadcase.... great if you have a crew working for your band, not so great lugging it yourself 4 nights a week. I sold mine after i started waking up with a bad back, but geez i miss that thing. tone from hell.
Re: Recommend me an amp to go with my Ric Bass
well, i didn't have any luck at guitar center looking for an amp. i think i am gonna take everyones advice and just check ebay. the only thing i've noticed with ebay is that shipping is outrageous or on bigger things you have to pick it up and that is kinda hard when things are five states away. thanks for everyones input.
love,
jeremy

Re: Recommend me an amp to go with my Ric Bass
I have spent the last month trying a lot of amps because I thought my GK sounded too bland (I had acquired a 700RB after years with my old GK). I went with a Yorkville Bassmaster 800X. Great value.
