Pickup Rattle / Microphonics

Post by JammyDodger »

To All,

I was fortunate enough to aquire an unused V63 a couple of weeks ago. She is absolutley beautiful!

In playing the other night, I heard what I thought to be distortion from my amp. After further investigation, I found that the neck pickup would 'buzz' on certain notes. The pickup is very microphonic and I guess it resonates at certain notes. If I press it with my finger it stops. I've tried adjusting it up or down to no avail. I've stuffed a bit of paper between the pickup and the pickguard and this has solved the problem for the near term. Any suggestions for a better fix?

Cheers, Mike

I have no suggestions, but would like to see pix of the V!

Welcome!

Actually I do have a suggestion. Have you adjusted the pu all the way up until it contacts the guard? You may want to try rubber grommets / washers between the guard and pu.
