1976 330 FG 21 fret

Post by jwilli »

...with a BIN of $1400. So I hit the button! Looks like a leftover '60s instrument.

Nice, JWilli, can't say I've seen a lot of those, other than in pictures. (Then again, I'm still seeing them in photos, you on the other hand...)

Check out the difference in this headstock of a '74 360.

don't worry Bob, you're not alone! I think it seriously comes down to timing!

That's a nice one, John!
Did they really have "leftover" sixties models that late into the 70's, or did someone swap the input jackplate?

Cheers,

Collin, I don't think anyone switched the jackplate. It still has Hi-gains on it. Not really sure if Rickenbacker had some leftover instruments back then. Maybe they offered 21/24 fret necks as an option at that time. Maybe Dale could chime in. Anyway, when I first saw it on Ebay, I didn't realize that it was a 21 fret neck. Once it registered in my brain, I jumped on it. :D Hopefully, it will arrive this week. I'll put up better pics then.

I've seen a '74 and even a '77 with 21-fret necks. Both 330s, and the '77 was a 330/12. Both were MG.

Just noticed it doesn't have a split level pickguard.

Yes, it's more of a ranch model pickguard, for those of us who hate going up and down the steps.

The 330 arrived today. Wow. Even nicer than I thought. DEEP fireglo. Compare it to the '64 model....
Top pic is with flash. The other, no flash.
