Finally. my album is out

Post by gareth »

After much farting about, The Ghosthookers have released their first album, and it's a fine selection of punk rock devoted to the time honored subject of hookers and drinking essentially. I used the 4004LK with a desk DI to track the bass, as I had to put it on the tracks after they were initially recorded for reasons too varied to go into here. (Let's just thank Pro Tools for the ability to nudge notes into the right place.) I then went to track them using the 1979 4001 with the Trace Elliot stack, but the Lollar horseshoe on it was just too microphonic and kept picking up signals from NASA or somewhere. I then ended up using the 4001S on the whole album instead, and it sounded massive. We're all in a shocking physical state, so if nothing else, I'd like you to take pity on some fat old bald men if you consider a purchase, and think of it more as a donation to an animal charity than an actual purchase of an item. If you don't like punk rock, (actually, just speeded up Outlaws riffs), just use it as a coaster, regift it to someone you don't particularly like, or throw it at an ungrateful child.

We're playing all over the place, and should make it to the UK and Europe later this year. Details of all the nonsense can be found at http://www.myspace.com/ghosthookers

I'm way too old to playing this sort of stuff, but it's fun. My old band The Shapes have also been asked to reform after 30 years to play with The Damned in London in December, so there's still a little life in the old dog yet.

Thanks ! I've just started using it live. It sounds phenomenal through the bi-amped Trace stack. You can really feel it punching through the mix, which is really important for the fast stuff to get the transparency you need to stop it turning to mush. Funnily enough, it's the only bass I have that Paul W hasn't worked on. I shall have to think of something for him to do with it. Paint it pink perhaps
