Yes It Is - constructive criticism wanted!

Post by tennis_nick »

I'm fairly new to the vocals game, but I'm trying and trying and practicing and practicing!

Here's a cover of Yes It Is.

The vocals are recorded in an unconventional way. "Lennon" is one track. "Paul" Is one track (with the exception of the first line). George is a mix of 3 tracks, because it was the hardest...

Anyhow, let me know what you think, and anyone with tips and tricks, also appreciated. You can comment on the mix too if you can!

Great job, Nick! The mix was good, I think if anything I would have brought the "Paul" harmony up a bit.

Sounds good Nick.

I think I would double the "lennon".
I might use a touch of compression too.

I finished up a fair take of "Anytime At All". I used the Ric 12 in an old fender 30, one of my acoustic guitar designs, and the '65 gibson bass. It's all there except piano and vocal. Want to give that a try?

I'm now working on "Ticket To Ride" but may need real drums this time brcause of the drum rolls.

Thanks for the comments folks!

Here's what I changed on these mixes.

Take 2, I adjusted vocal panning and added reverb (a touch to much maybe, but meh...)
I also played around with the instruments fading in then out

Take 3.
Same mix change, but nothing was done to the instruments.

For what it's worth, I think I enjoy take 2 better because it's not the same as the original.

Les, I won't be recording for a while.
