Bassist for 12 years buys his first guitar...

Post by JeffCullen »

...and it's a 660/12!

I have noodled on guitars whenever I've had the chance and can string basic stuff together, and, well, I just love the sound of these things! Totally ridiculous, impractical guitar to have as my ONLY guitar (will probably go for a nice acoustic next, thinking Larrivée...), but I just can not live any longer without that sound in my life!

Will report back when it arrives, should be before the end of the week :D

Cool, Jeff, congrats! You should take a group photo for us!

It is hard to imagine anybody not loving one (or more) of those.

Congratulations!

I'm also a bassist, for about 15 years, and own a 660/12 as my only Rickenbacker guitar (in addition to my Rick 4003 basses). My 660/12 is Turquoise, and I've had it for a few years now. Hopefully you'll love yours like I love mine. I will never need another 12-string, ever. I've used it for songwriting and also on two songs on my band's latest CD. It's perfect for recording.

Good choice!

With some nice photos I hope! Congratulations in advance! Welcome to Rick 12 string heaven (I arrived about 2 hours ago myself).

Beautiful....spectacular inlay work on that one... incidentally I drive by their Vancouver shop every day on my way to work... every Larrivée I have picked up has practically played itself, and the sound is to die for, I find them so expressive and articulate...

:D Someone finally got it! :D

I understand that only the lower price models are made in Canada, the more expensive Larrivée models are made in Oxnard. I have played quite a few at my local dealer ranging from -03 models up through my -19, they are all superb players and sound wonderful.

Sounds like that is indeed now the case. I think I'd quite like a L-10... not sure if I'd go for a pickup/preamp though and then which unit...

Going to pick the 660/12 up tomorrow morning at the UPS depot... don't know how I am going to get anything done at work with it sitting in the car all day :(

You can't let it sit in the car, you have to play it all day and let your work sit in the car.

An L-10 is the closest to what I have; if I hadn't found this I would probably have gotten an LSV-11. Mine has no preamp, not even an endpin! This is a sit down guitar, which is just the way I like it.
