Colour code for Rickenbacker white

Did Ric use auto paints in mid-seventies like Fender did? I'd like to find out the colour code for the white colour Ric used those days. At least 4000 basses were offered in that colour.

RIC's paints have come from a number of sources over the years. Although some formulas have been types of paints also used in the auto industry (acrylic lacquers), they have not been, strictly speaking, "car paint".

That having been said, if you are trying to match a white for touch-up, it would have to be done "by eye", by someone experienced in doing this sort of matching. If you're doing a complete refinish, select a white acrylic lacquer that looks right to you (I use a '67 GM white--it's fairly close) and have at it. Don't forget to clear-coat, and remember that most clear coats do yellow over time to varying degrees.
