That's an amazing looking example. They have 2 of them at my local vintage dealer. One an early one with 3 switches and a little later one with 4.

You would THINK SO, wouldn't you Jeff? I recently tried to sneak in a NICE, CHEAP, backup bass and she turned all kinds of different colors....her eyeballs popped out of her head.....I was just waiting for her head to start turning around & around...... LOL, she just said...."how much was this one" and "didn't you have a 4 bass limit?"..... I said, yes dear, I did HAVE a 4 bass limit, but who's counting....

I wonder how long it will take for that black & blue mark on my forehead to go away......

Agreed John, but I found a way into talking my self into this one.

Now that gas is hitting 4.00 a gallon, (actually since it hit the high $2.00 a gallon range) we've begun planning our trips out with the car. SO, on our way home from Church on Sunday morning, we hit the grocery store, post office (love that new automated postage machine), Home DEBIT, and any other place we need to stop at while we're out. That means leaving a RIC in the car in the Florida heat for hours. We have a mini van so no trunk to hide it either. NOT A CHANCE...

I'm so much of a nut, I get a separate shopping cart just for my RIC! My RIC has been in Home Depot, Winn Dixie, you name it! I can't tell you how many times some wise guy asks "hey man, what isle do the keep the guitars at"? Schmuck.............

NOW, I have a cheapie that on days I know we'll be running the gauntlet, I can just leave it in the car.

I guess this is a good a time as any to tell you about it. You knew I was oggling (for SOME unknown reason) a Peavey T-40 for a few months. YES, I know a PEAVEY?!?!?! I don't know exactly how it started, but I'm always watching Ebay and there they are. CHEAP, not so bad looking (almost Gibson G3 or Ripper like) but what hooked me was the TWO styles of pickup included on these basses. If the volume knob is kept at 7 or under only the humbuckers are playing. IF you crank ONE of BOTH volume knobs past 7, the SINGLE COILS kick in. You can also have a mix of both SC & HB at the same time! I thought that would be great in my "noisy wiring" church in the am. It even has a phase switch.

I have to say, this thing is a BEAST. YES, it is heavy, under 11 Lbs (but I only plan on using it once in a while) so I'm hoping it doesn't kill me. I'll find out this Sunday, I'll play it for the first time. Honestly, for an average $200.00/300.00 price tag, you can't beat it! The early ones even have maple necks. Mine is a burst with a rosewood neck. IT BOOMS. It isn't a sharp or clear as a RIC, but it is a down & dirty ROCK bass for sure. The pickups are similar in size with the Dark Star pickups. Swamp Ash body, and it has TOASTERS! LOL, just a BIT larger than RIC''s!

SO anyway, there you have it. NEVER in a million years did I think I'd own, what we used to call, a "Sleazy Peavy".....it really isn't bad at all, and it was made here in the 'ol US of A. Not too shabby.

Will do John. I've been messing around with it at home. It is going to take a while to figure out all it can do. The sustain is really good, it is a different beast to say the least.

I'm bringing my V63 with me, JUST IN CASE.
