Replacing strap bolts?

Post by jimd »

Which strap bolt is the correct one for replacing the old style with new on a v63? I need to set up all my guitars and basses for straplocks. No mods, just want to unscrew and install the bolt. Item #5901 is larger but listed for a 4003. Item #5904 is smaller, looks right, but is it adequate for the bass? Thanks

Both have identical size shanks, Jim. Same threads, same length. The photo for the strap lock type bolt seems to have been taken from farther away, but they're the same size. Since you say you want strap locks (my choice too), the part you want is #5904:

I swapped out the bolts from my v64 and they fit the v63. Thanks for answering.

speaking of replacing strap bolts, i went to the hardware store and found machine screws with the same thread as the rick ones,
then I took fender strap buttons and filed out the inside with a diamond file so that the bolts would fit through them
and then I put on a couple of Grolsch Beer Gaskets for straplocks, and things are doing just fine and dandy!
