The V64

Post by red_rob »

This is mine. For no particular reason other than it's perfect. It's beautiful, classy, lightweight, versatile, different and sounds amazing

Actually, prices for these seem to have shot up a bit over the last 2 years...

And it is surely a beauty, Red Rob. Thanks for the photos.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

I think that in general some of the V-series guitars that weren't replaced with C-series quivalents have been on the rise and will continue to rise. It's the fact that those who have them aren't letting too many out and those that want them are simply outstripping the supply available.

Nice guitar in the pics. It's late 90's isn't it?

Beautiful guitar Robert 8)

I love V64's myself but the only thing i don't have are the silver cases.
I got a plain black one with my 1989 360/12V64
and when i bought my other 1999 v64 6 string it didn't have its original case, just the std Rick case.

But hey, the guitars are beautiful!

Scotty - I got mine via eBay from a guy in the US. Felt like I'd paid well over the odds at the time but it's worked out pretty good in the end!

Matt - you are bang on my friend, she's a '99. Really nice fireglo, quite dark around the edges. And the wood grain gives it a nice shimmer.

Beautiful guitars indeed lads - I kind of want a Greenglo one....

Sometimes you can tell the vintage of the guitar by the FG, sometimes not. I have a 1997 that has the same spray pattern from '99.

Regarding a Greenglo, if they were to EVER do anything in an emerald-glo (deep dark green transparent), I'd be all over it. I also think that a metallic racing green like that of a Jaguar or the Bullitt Mustang (the cars, not guitars) would be great.

My 12 string V64 came today! Just spent 10 hours (seemed like) changing the strings to TI's and wow, it is truly awesome to play. I wouldn't exactly call it lightweight though.

That's great! The V64's were a great series of guitars. I wouldn't part with mine at all. I've never really noticed that mine is overly-heavy though...about par for the course when considering everything else that I play.

It's lighter than my Les Paul, but because of its size it feels a bit heavy. I'm used to my 325C58 though, so it's all relative.

Wes, having an extra 6 machine heads on the headstock certianly adds to the weight! Mine's a nimble 6-stringer though and it's super comfortable to play. I guess there's a reason Gibson don't make a 12-string Les Paul!

the V64 would look fantastic in blue burst me thinks. The double binding would set it off a treat.

Take no notice of the Strats - they're blow-ins. Well..... no they're not....... well, yes they are...... well, no they're not! Just like underpants, you're allowed to stock more than one brand, aren't you?? :D
