REM Last night . . . .
I saw REM last night in St. Paul, MN and they were really great. Peter Buck played Ricks almost the whole night. Mostly his 360. But a couple 620s and a 620-12.
When Michael Stipe introduced him he said "and on the Rickenbacker - Peter Buck"
His guitars sounded great all night.

Regular 620's as well? The 620-12 has made its debut during this tour, that's true, but for which songs did he use regular 620's, do you mean?kernkamp wrote:I saw REM last night in St. Paul, MN and they were really great. Did any of you go to the Raleigh, NC show? They did a really excellent batch of songs and the Rickenbacker count got even more ridiculous when Johnny Marr joined them on a 370 and I did on a 330. I think videos of this are abundant, for anyone so inclined.

I think most of us are so inclined, Mitch. Thanks for the alert -- I saw some of the video and read the review. Sounds like it was a great time!
When I first read your post and you mentioned that you were on stage, I did not see that you were the author of the post and thought "yeah, sure this guy was on stage with REM". Well, yeah. This guy was on stage with REM!! Now when will you produce or appear on the next REM record?

It was really great to see the footage of you and Don on stage with the guys, Mitch!blue330 wrote:Did any of you go to the Raleigh, NC show? I'm pretty certain you know the place you and your efforts have not only in the history of the band but also in the hearts of the fans, but
it could always point it out again...
Also, as someone mentioned, this was the first show in many, many years that featured at least one song from every album they have released, including Chronic Town... That's quite a feat after 28 years and some 14 albums!

Gave my ex-wife tix to the Jones Beach show for her birthday. She took my 11 year old son. They lived through the thunder and lightning to enjoy the performance. My son actually liked Modest Mouse better...Ahhh, what do these kids know about music? ha ha

Mitch, I had the same reaction as the one posted above -- until I saw your name. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool R.E.M. fan, dating back to my junior year of high school when "Radio Free Europe" was released. I almost went to the Chicago show when the band -- with Johnny Marr in tow -- was in town several weeks ago, but .... The last show I saw was in Cincinnati for "Around the Sun." Which reminds me: Please tell Mr. Stipe, Mr. Buck and Mr. Mills that not everyone shares their doubts about that album. So many of those songs resonated with where I was in my life at the time that they're among my favorites to this day.blue330 wrote:Did any of you go to the Raleigh, NC show?
