ZZ serial numbers?

Post by gibsonlp »

Hey there,
During my ebay crawl for instruments to be added to the register I came across this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0241945272

The serial number is ZZ 1028, the image is consistent with the odd serial number (the ZZ is pretty clear)
Could it be that "ZZ" was used along with "XX" for replacement jackplates?
So long and thanks for all the fish!

It's entirely possible. My 1976 4001FL has a 'ZZ' serial. I was only able to figure the production date based on the pot codes.

This is a good question for Mr. Hall.

ZZ and XX have in the past been reserved for replacement plates.
