Are these stands safe for a Rick finish?
I just bought a Warwick Rock Stand that hols 7 guitars or basses. I was curious if in fact these stands are safe for the CV finish on a Rick.
It does say on the box..."Safe For All Guitar Finishes" Please clear this up O noble one.

I haven't had any trouble with my Ricks using a similar stand, but I don't leave the guitars in the stand for days, just during rehearsals/gigs, after which they go back in the case.

Steve, I have three of these cheapies for mass-storage. I'm getting less hesitant about mentioning this as time goes by, as I have about 15 instruments--all Ricks--on them, with no finish problems. The padding does crush with time, and because mine are square tubing underneath, theres always the possibility of a ding if you set an instrument into one with too much gusto. But so far it's been 100% OK.
Others have expressed their opinions on these, so read the thread that Dan refs and decide for yourself.

Even with Hercules stands, I throw a soft cloth over the neck holder.
I have a 7-guitar Warwick that I only put poly-finished guitars in. Bottom line, I wouldn't trust a $1000-$2000 guitar on a stand that costs less than a $100--but I'm not a gigging musician (not by any stretch
), so I tend to baby my "babies".

Yes, they CAN ruin a Rick finish. Imagine 50 years of ambering happening in one month. It may have to do with our Florida humidity, but I can say yes, I've had the problem on a few Ricks on those exact stands (the 7 and 5). I use Hercules per JH's recommendation.

+1 on the Hercules stands....not the cheapest by any stretch, but they're great IMHO.....

Steve, sorry to alarm you in that other thread, but I haven't used my Rockstand since I've heard of complaints from others and I'd hate to one day hear that the stand might have discolored the finish on your babies. Since the Rockstand has gotten mixed reviews, use it at your own discretion. I had bought that stand to use at last year's SoCal confluence. Soon after that, I heard of the complaints and it got retired.
I've been using the Ultimate hanging stands for many years and I've never had a problem with them. IIRC, Ultimate stands are also ones that JH recommends.
For a multi guitar stand, I think Quik-lok might be the way to go. I've never heard any of issues with them

JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!
