Women Using The Forum?

Just thought it would be interesting to see if any women are playing/collecting Rickenbackers or posting anything on the forum.

Courtney Love said in an guitar magazine interview a few years ago that Rickenbacker refused to support her tour because they don't want to be associated with FEMALE GUITARISTS!!! Shame if it's true, after Susanne Hoffs brought so much attention to RIC!
The guitar that Courtney is playing is I think a Fender Venus, looks a little like a Rickenbacker guitar. Could have been a great RIC anyway...come on girls, show us your...ermmm....Ricks!!!

I do hope that this was a joke !! c'mon this is the 90-ies !
I play the guitar since I was 10 and am as good as a boy who started at that age! I got my first ric last year (V59) and i'm sure it wouldn't be my last, but this is very sad...
BTW this is a really great formu..learned a lot this last year..

Agnes: Thanks for your comments. There are indeed many women who play Rickenbackers. While this is by no means a complete list the following women have recorded with Rickenbackers.

Just an addition: Courtney Love is on crack.
Ricknebacker's SH model pre-dated Bonnie Raitt's Signature Strat by nine years. It was the first guitar company to ever have a women's name on an axe officially.(Was there ever really a Mary Ford model from Gibson?)
Maybe Rickenbacker didn't want her sullying the name.

Courtney Love nor anyone associated with her has ever been in contact with us. I think many of the women on Peter's list plus a few more like Chrissie Hynde, Brix Smith, and Shena Ringo might have a substantially different opinion than Courtney Love.

Hello, Agnes. It is good to see at least one other woman here. I have wondered why so few women are posting messages. But then again, I rarely meet women who play the guitar at all. It is a shame, because I'd like to find some other musicians to jam with, without "gender issues" getting in the way.

As for Courtney Love, she seems to have a great talent for self-promotion. It's a shame that she gets more publicity than other, more worthy (in my opinion) female artists.

The lead singer of the Babes In Toyland played a Rick too, a 400 series model I think. The 400 series seemed to be very popular among female players, the Garbage singer played one, and even Courtney...dont't forget Madonna (so that is what these two girls have in common, the only thing, it seems....)
The 400 series was a great players guitar.

Peter: I believe that Kat Bjelland had a 420 Jetglo that was customized. I had forgotten about this until your post. Yes I suppose we should include Madonna as well. Thanks.
