Long Distance Runaround acoustic
Cool version of this song, and dig Chris' Rickenbacker acoustic guitar!

That's from the Live at QPR 1976 concert with Patrick Moraz. The entire show is available if you look hard enough, but it is a very unofficial release with an unmixed soundtrack, straight off the snake with no mix or balance to a lot of the tracks. Parts of it are okay, however, especially Patrick's piano solo and this very nice version of LDR in C# minor.
John, sorry you couldn't make it to RIO, I was looking forward to meeting you there. Maybe another comfluence...

I saw them do that in Pittsburgh! Were you there, Jim?

It doesn't get better than this:

The Queens Park Rangers football ground is in London and the BBC outdoor broadcast unit set up the shoot for this to be shown later on The Old Grey Whistle Test programme on BBC2.
The actual broadcast on the OGWT only showed short clips of the show and amongst other bits one feature was the acoustic set with Long Distance Runaround.
You can tell the difference in audio quality as soon as it gets to this bit.
The reverb on the vocals comes through where before this point (on the video) the vocal sound was dry and probably either the monitor feed or other feed to the BBC unit.
More or less from that point onwards the audio is reasonably good and Ritual is particularly good.
Its a real pity that there has never been any great attempt to get an official re-mix and release of this show.
Most of the Yes shows were recorded at the desk as far as I can remember so it could be possible to get a new audio track dubbed onto the videotape.
As to where the original is who knows?
The laserdisc and later DVD (bootleg) releases were of Japanese origin.
This show is so far the only footage of one of the Roger Dean stage sets from the 70s.
Yes are said to have filmed some of the Relayer tour stuff but abandoned plans for "Yessongs 2" and the footage has never been seen.
I almost went to this show but living 200 miles north in Manchester I opted to go to the Stoke City ground show the following Saturday.
It absoloutely poured down with rain all day!
The awning over the stage took on so much water that it poured into the stage and the show was cut short.
Jon Anderson said they would come back and do a free show but that never happened.
I loved those shows!

Re: Long Distance Runaround acoustic
Jeff, I missed that tour. Almost bought a ticket, can't remember why I passed, since TFTO was so good live.
I enjoy the entire QPR concert, even the bad audio sections, because it's a great look at Yes during that period where not a lot of film exists, but, please, someone, wrestle that electric guitar away from Jon! On "To be over" while Steve is playing th great Telecaster parts, Jon drowns him out strumming poorly on that thing... we do need a remix!

This was indeed a great period to see Yes live. You could also take a camera into the shows, and I have (somewhere...) a lot of color slides and b&w photos of Yes in the Zoo. From right in front too. Someday when I spot the dumpster to clear out the basement so I can get to the oldest things, I will be able to find them again.

That clip is cool. Good to see Chris with another RIC instrument, but I do prefer the sound of his Rick bass used in the song.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!
