So a while back, on another board some of you frequent as well, someone made an off hand comment that Rickenbacker made pups that sound exactly like the old DeArmonds that came in Gretsch guitars in the 50's. It was near the end of a really long thread and it was never answered if it was Hi Gains or Toasters that he was referring to.
I can't imagine Toasters being anything like DeArmonds. I've never heard Hi Gains in anything but a Rick. I've never heard original DeArmonds.
So what do you guys think? Do Hi Gains sound like the original DeArmonds to you? And is it the old Hi Gains or newer ones?
Thanks all

No, not at all. See my post on the other board, but I don't think either vintage or new DeArmonds sound anything like the RIC pickups.
