Ric acoustic price question
Can anyone tell me what the 700L 12 string acoustic goes for? I don't have a Ric retail price guide.

Re: Ric acoustic price question
If you're talking about a factory made one, pretty much whatever people are prepared to pay, Bob. I don't believe they are on Ric's price list as they are no longer made by Rickenbacker themselves. They are, however, produced under licence by forum member Paul Wilczynski. Quite a number here have availed themselves of the opportunity to have one built by Paul in a custom finish rather than a natural one, which makes them unique.
I'd suggest you PM Paul with your enquiry.

With Ric acoustics, if you need to ask the price it probably means you wont be able to afford one!

Re: Ric acoustic price question
Price equals supply times demand.
The supply is very small, whether it's a RIC factory made one or a Paul W made one.
On the other hand, the demand does not appear to be that high either.
If I had to estimate it, I would say that there were about 35 to 50 made by the factory. No one seems to know for sure. There are probably about a couple dozen people who regularly inquire about having one. So, depending upon how much capital may be available for those few people who want one will greatly dictate the price.
When the supply and market is so small for such a niche item, you tend to see GREAT fluctuation in price depending upon the time. I have seen them go as high as $7,500 and as low as $2,500. Just depends.

Re: Ric acoustic price question
The best estimate of numbers made by the factory sits at "around 600", according to JH when I inquired during a casual conversation.myfretless wrote:Price equals supply times demand.

I receive a dozen inquiries per month, on average, and am back-ordered about 18-20 months on acoustics, with new orders coming in regularly. I would not say demand is high, due to price I suppose. With my own capability limited to 1-2 per month, I'd say supply and demand are pretty much in synch currently.
I'm building a new spray booth to relieve the load on the current booth, which I've been sharing with a couple of hundred students at the University. It will be finished next week--hooray!!
It got to the point of serious backlog last May, and this should eliminate the bottleneck--I've got a dozen acoustics built and waiting for finishing.
To the topic of price: The Rick acoustics that I build are slightly higher than the middle of the range mentioned above for used ones. You can write me at the email address in my profile, and I'll be pleased to discuss detailed pricing, delivery dates, and options. Those of you who have written me about the nylon-stringed classical Rickenbackers that I'm developing, should know that the tooling is moving along well.

My guess is that there's not much to tell yet. Paul's busy, give him a break!

Hmmm ... I guess I need to check my old e-mails, as it sounds like I have maybe a couple more months to wait!... and am back-ordered about 18-20 months on acoustics ...
