Take care, Blue Angel.
Take care, Blue Angel.
I don't want to get into what and why he said goodbye; I honor his personal path and leave it at that.
This is only to say that his expertise will be missed. He has been a generous contributor to the general knowledge base. I haven't understood the first thing about what he says most of the time, but I can tell that his understanding of technical matters is impressive, and that he has enjoyed sharing it with us. Hope I'm not alone in wishing him the best of luck in the future, and hoping maybe we'll see him on the flip side.
No dead horse beating, please. I just wanted to wish him a friendly fare-thee-well.

I'll second that, having no knowledge of why he's leaving. A while back he took the time to answer some questions I had about Fender amps, and I am grateful that he did. Let's hope it works out for the best.

Thank you for posting this Kira. John will be sorely missed for his input, knowledge, and honesty.

Well put John...unfortunately.johnallg wrote:Thank you for posting this Kira. John will be sorely missed for his input, knowledge, and honesty.

When someone like John leaves, sadly, it's not a good sign. This place needs to breathe a little more if to be viewed objectively by the majority, and, therefore, to expand.
Steve, this will give you an insight...
viewtopic.php?p=476750#p476750, and then go down a few more posts to his next posting.

Re: Take care, Blue Angel.
His thoughts there were not only well thought out and written but I feel like they were right on the money. Seems his account has been disabled which from what I can tell can only be done by the moderator. Really a shame, I liked John and he was extremely knowledgeable and more than generous helping people out with all sorts of technical information.
Take care John.
Take care John.
Re: Take care, Blue Angel.
+1 on that.
At least we can still find him (and some of the others) on a few other forums.

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: Take care, Blue Angel.
I don't know what really happened so i can only suggest, but when a member's profile is deleted, it doesn't necessarily mean that some "bad guy" called board administrator came in and kicked him out. A member may ask to delete his profile too. You can take it from me cause i've been there.Seems his account has been disabled which from what I can tell can only be done by the moderator.
It's very sad, though, when a fellow member leaves. There's been a few occasions when forum fellas left, and it always feels like something is not right. It is nice, though, when you can still talk via other sites.
Thanks for the reminder, Kira, now i have to go and write a message...

I for one will miss Blue Angel's technical advice.

Nor did I specifically say it did. I was only pointing out that unless I was missing something, one can not delete his own account.sowhat wrote:it doesn't necessarily mean that some "bad guy" called board administrator came in and kicked him out.Seems his account has been disabled which from what I can tell can only be done by the moderator.
Please do not imply that I am pointing fingers at or calling anyone a "bad guy" as it was not my intention.
Re: Take care, Blue Angel.
Neither did i imply you were pointing fingers, sorry if it sounded so, i didn't mean that. It was more of a "common stereotype" quoting — for some reason, the administrators/moderators are often described as "bad guys" who only try to show they're cool. IIRC, one cannot delete his own account at this forum, you're right, but one can ask the board administrator to do so. Moderators cannot do it either.Darkhollow wrote:Nor did I specifically say it did. Sorry for the thread drift.

I'm glad you said that, because everyone always looks at me when this type of thing happens, even though I have nothing to do with it!Darkhollow wrote:Please do not imply that I am pointing fingers at or calling anyone a "bad guy" as it was not my intention.
I have no idea what happened here- apparently some things were deleted that I never saw. His account is stil open at The Rickenbacker Forum and even if we haven't always agreed on things- something about a copy bass as I recall- he's continued to post.
As it happens, we have a friend in common (not sure he knows that!) and we're planning on paying him a visit the next time he's playing in the Cowgate area.

John, you would be the last one I would guess. Others who would don't know you very well.johnhall wrote:I'm glad you said that, because everyone always looks at me when this type of thing happens, even though I have nothing to do with it!Darkhollow wrote:Please do not imply that I am pointing fingers at or calling anyone a "bad guy" as it was not my intention.

And for those speculating, John Phillips (Blue Angel) left of his own accord, asking to be deactivated.
