How many 381/12V69 BBR?

Post by Tileman »

I'm wondering how many 381/12V69 BBR's were built. I beleive there might be only 7. I remember seeing only 7 being shipped out to dealers. I have found 3 others besides mine; Glenn Jedlowski (mahatma), Timothy Rock (manta) and (chefothefuture). Where are the others? :?: :?: :?:

I wrote to Rickenbacker to find out, but they never replied. (I wrote to them on many other occasions too, and they never replied.) I recall reading a thread on their website where Hall said that they either don't have records of their production (which I doubt), or they don't have the time to search for the information even if they did have it. How do you know only 7 were shipped out to dealers?

Keep in mind when you're checking the 'Just shipped' page at the corporate website, that one entry does not necessarily mean one guitar or bass. It means one order. there might have been one in that particular order, or there might have been five (or more).

The 381 is a rare enough model that it is feasible each listing was only one instrument. At least it has been that way for the 4004 Ciis this year. They were shipped singly. I wouldn't make the same assumption for a 360 or 4003, though!

It seems like I watched the shipments for 2 years and only counted the 7 that came up in that time frame.
