1967 450 with a clear pickguard?

Post by apossibleworld »

So I have a 1967 combo 450, fireglow, that has a completely translucent clear pickguard. The person who sold it to me had bought it from a dealer who told him that the pickguard was original, that the guitar had been shown at a trade show (NAMM?) with that special guard, back when it was new. I haven't found any way to verify this. Has anyone ever heard of clear guards being used on display models? It's pretty cool, you can see all of the wiring and pickup elements through it.

I know, I know. I dropped it off at a store for a possible consignment, and was discussing with the store owners whether or not the pickguard story was legit. So the guitar is still at that shop and I don't think I have photos offhand. I'll try to get some though. ;)

You'd probably have a lot easier time selling the guitar on here than on consignment somewhere. Just a tip
