Bass Case For Ten?

As some of you may know when I'm not not playing my Rick basses I spend most of my day in a cabinet shop. I am a cabinetmaker by trade and have been doing so for close to 20 years. We built kitchen cabinets, entertainment centers and an occasional piece of furniture from hard maple, oak, cherry, mahogany, hickory, alder, red & white birch but we use soft maple for our dovetail drawers. It is cheaper than hard maple and looks good with a lacquer finish. One day this past summer I came across a few interesting boards...

I'm really diggin' the flame!

So I got this idea....I'll build a cabinet to hold all my "stuff"

The frames for the front, sides and doors are hard maple and I used the soft maple for
the door and side panels, all of the drawers and the drawer fronts.

The flame in the hard & soft maple really stands out well but each has it's own characteristics.

Almost ready for sanding...

Some assembly required....

The CNC Router I use to cut out cabinet parts also doubles as a workbench sometimes...

These things were extremely heavy. My son and I had no problem moving the first one into
the house but the second one seemed to be a bit heavier than the first and ended up being
a statistic...

I'll fix it one of these days....
Anyway....this is what I came up with......

Plenty of storage for tools, goodies etc.

MapleGlo anyone?

Safely tucked away...

Dovetail drawers...

Easy access...

The flame in this soft maple is wild!

I once had a bass that matched!

So there 'ya have it...."Bass Case for Ten". Plenty of storage for my girls.
The one on the right will stay upside down until I repair the damage to the base.

They're not full yet....3 to go....

Makes for a nice workbench too....
