My Holy Grail found! (RoMo content...)

Post by collin »

Well, usually I have some level of restraint when it comes to this stuff.......but not this time. :D

It's been a good week: Gas is cheap, Christmas is near....oh yeah, and I fulfilled a decade-old search!

When I was a kid, my dad had this poster hanging in his office:

Image

After I started playing guitar, like many others, I was naturally attracted to the 'oorible 'oo, and lusted after the strange guitar in Townshend's hands (along with the requisite RM1993 of course)......learned about Rics, about RoMo's.....etc etc....bought a Reissue, loved it, played it, sold it...figuring I could never get my hands on the real deal.

Until......

Today! :D :D :D :D :D

1964 Rose Morris 1998 Model- Ser# DE598 made in May 1964. Sourced from the Midlands (UK)
I just strung it up and played it. Sounds amazing, and certainly feels vintage
(well, the multitude of battle scars and wear will certainly attest to that...).

Needless to say, I'm a pretty happy dude today. Guess Christmas came early. :)

PS.....the TRC pictured is borrowed from another guitar for pics. It has no TRC, so if anybody has a spare 60s TRC (six string), or knows where I can find one, please advise! I have to get this RM representing!

haha, are you offering? Come on over!

Yeah, well...the UK has the market cornered on Rose Morris models, so I don't feel too bad. Besides, Graham has them all over there- it's his fault!

Thanks guys!

So now you've got two very rare, vintage Ricks, eh? If you don't mind me asking what it cost ya, shoot me a PM (can't help but be curious). Looks incredible!

Just noticed Jake's thread about taking a break from RRF, good thing cause he might go nuts if he saw this thread.

I was just about to log out until I saw this!

Collin, I'm not going to go nuts (shame for predicting that, Wes!), but I'm happy for you. You've got your dream guitar, and I'm sure it's staying with you for a long, long time. :)
