Steppenwolf 1968 live - Yum!
Steppenwolf 1968 live - Yum!
Here's a gem featuring two ricks at once; well almost. John's 381 is leaning against the amp behind him.
Now what could be hipper than this?

Steppenwolf were one of the coolest bands back then. When I watch their videos now, I suppose they still are to me.............

I bet Jim Morrison was watching JK's moves, and vice versa.

I agree Kira. Back then there was a lot of "borrowing" going on. Jimmy Page even did the "windmill" move for a while.

I saw them back in the day at the Forum with um... Three Dog Night.
I thought John Kay must have been on drugs, cause he always wore sunglasses.
Never dug the Afro/Beard look of the keyboardist.

That's really cool live footage! Thanks for posting it Kira. I knew I'd seen video footage of John Kay with a FG 381 before. In most of the period footage I've seen of JK with a 381, the guitar he's playing is a MG finished model.
